You may have never heard of wassail, but it is the drink you never knew you needed. While living on the outskirts of the Texas Hill Country, we cherished our visits to the charming town of New Braunfels. This beautiful German town is the Texas version of Leavenworth. It was we gathered for church, caught up with friends, and enjoyed countless hours of leisure. Known for its vibrant community, New Braunfels is also home to Schlitterbahn, celebrated as one of the top water parks in the world. With its impressive array of rides and the use of natural spring water, it consistently ranks as the best, offering a truly unique and immersive experience. But one of our favorite traditions was attending Wassailfest, where we’d savor both the holiday spirit and spiced beverage that brings the community together each holiday season. We couldn’t imagine a holiday without wassail, so we thought why not share with with our PNW community!
So what exactly is this warm, spiced beverage? Wassail has roots in ancient England and Germany where it was enjoyed as a toast to health and prosperity during festive celebrations. Our wassail is crafted from a blend of apple cider, zesty citrus, and a medley of spices like cinnamon and cloves, offering a cozy, comforting flavor that’s perfect for those chilly days. With its rich aroma and a touch of sweetness, our version embodies the spirit of holiday cheer. Stop by and enjoy a cup at either of our locations, where we bring history and warmth to every sip! While it is a fantastic drink just as it is, adding cinnamon cold foam to the top is bliss in a cup.
